Mr. Kelley caught working with a student during morning tutorials with a positive attitude.

All of our students know Mr. Kelley, the introverted yet humorous Humanities teacher. His interaction with students is what he is most known for throughout the school as he tries to carry a lighthearted mood for his classes, AP World History & World Geography.

“I’m trying to bring a little humor into the class,” Kelley said. “I want to ease them into the experience of high school.”

Mr. Kelley’s efforts don’t go unnoticed by the students either.

“I appreciate Mr. Kelley for making our class as lighthearted as possible,” Junior Beackham Bracken said.

While growing up, he knew he wanted to teach as early as middle school.

“Ever since I had my seventh grade history teacher, I liked history and found it a natural fit for teaching,” Kelley said.

He drives students to love the subject. While some students laugh and go on, others like to have bonds with him in his humor.

“I have my little connections with my students, little quotes that I keep repeating and I try to make it different each year,” Kelley said.

Some examples being: “Hey, didn’t see you there,”, “hey…it’s me again,” and “Good luck on your TSI testing” are just some of the comments he makes to get a smile on students’ faces.
