That Perfect Summer Love in Album Form: A Holistic Review of “14 minutes”

That Perfect Summer Love in Album Form: A Holistic Review of “14 minutes”

Thomas Treviño, Photo Editor August 12, 2024
Dominic Fike’s “14 minutes” is an indie summer soundtrack essential, with movie-worthy highs and sounds that are guaranteed to stick with each and every listener. Spanning a perfectly concise 14 minutes across eight tracks, this album's only flaw is that it leaves you craving more.

Haunting Narratives and Ethereal Beauty: A track-by-track Review of “HIT ME HARD AND SOFT.”

"HIT ME HARD AND SOFT," is a love-letter to her artistic evolution and fearless exploration of music. From the haunting narratives of ‘THE DINER’ and ‘BITTERSUITE,’ to the ethereal beauty of ‘BLUE,’ Eilish captivates listeners with her emotive storytelling and genre-bending soundscapes.

Righting The Wrongs: A Holistic Review of “COWBOY CARTER”

It’d be criminal to deny Beyoncé’s ability to send a listener through an unbuckled emotional rollercoaster, having to hold themselves down through the highest of highs, lowest of lows, and flips upside down, all of which are upheld by Beyonce’s natural ability to craft an art piece, and use her voice as a paint brush.

Grace Under Fire: A track-by-track Review of “Eternal Sunshine”

The album is a well-crafted masterful diary entry that she’s shared with the world. Grande shows her understanding of the ebb and flow of her love-life with freeing and contempt reflections of her volatile and passionate relationships, alongside an excitement for what the future may hold.

Coming Of Age: A track-by-track Review of “GUTS (spilled)”

Thomas Treviño, Photo Editor April 25, 2024
Olivia Rodrigo’s “GUTS” is an emotionally scattered, nail-biting, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed follow up to her fame-launching debut album “SOUR,” after a two-year music disappearance.

A Betrayal-Ridden Call-Out: A Holistic Review of “Scarlet 2 CLAUDE”

Thomas Treviño, Photo Editor April 25, 2024
The album dares listeners to say “she’s not a rapper,” and while it asserts her capabilities, the album, like Rico Nasty’s “Anger Management” and Taylor Swifts “reputation,” feels like another razor-edged, betrayal-ridden call-out, that always has something to prove.

Muses Acquired Like Bruises: A Holistic Review of “THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT: THE ANTHOLOGY”

Thomas Treviño, Photo Editor April 24, 2024
I often find myself disappointed by Swift’s deluxe editions because they more often than not, don’t feel like an extension of the album, rather an accident where she forgot to include a few songs when releasing the album. But this is a rare case where I have a deeper love for the extended tracklist as opposed to the original one.

All’s Fair In Love and Poetry: A Holistic Review of “THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT”

Thomas Treviño, Photo Editor April 23, 2024
Taylor Swift’s stark-white and murky-black “THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT” (TTPD) is the artists blood-red reflection of a now-closed, tumultuous chapter of her life. Swift is expected by fans to, once again, break endless records similar to TTPD’s predecessor, “Midnights.”
