With major contributions to Computer Science and Cyber Patriots, as well as being in the top five students of his class, it’s often agreed that a senior as devoted and helpful as Lennon Horsley is rare to come across.
Throughout his high school career, Lennon has been a part of National Honor Society, Cyber Patriots, competed in Java UIL, became a tutor for the Math Center, and was elected Junior Class President. Through his contributions, he proved himself as a devoted and supportive person willing to put in the effort.
“He’s very helpful,” Keinrath said. “He was my teacher’s aid and had no experience in Python, despite it being the Python class. He went through the whole Python course in two weeks doing all the assignments and everything so he was adequately prepared to tutor them.”
Keinrath has seen him in seven of her courses over four years of high school.
“My favorite courses that I have taken in high school have been the more advanced Computer Science courses like CS2 and Computer Science A,” Horsley said. “I also enjoyed Humanities while I had it, and the English classes I had after.”
Despite his caring, outspoken, and devoted character, he wasn’t always seen that way.
“As a freshman, he was quieter,” Keinrath said. “I guess because it was a new school and he wasn’t sure of himself but he’s kind of blossomed throughout these last two years and now he’s not inhibited in any way.”
With his final year of high school coming to a rolling end, he’s going on to much bigger and better things.
“After high school, I am going to UTSA and I want to study data science,” he said. “I have always liked computer science and patterns, and all the data interests me.”
There was never much confusion about what he wanted to study in college.
“I decided on my major because I have always liked data and patterns but I low-key dread the idea of coding for the rest of my life, so I didn’t want to do just computer programming,” he said. “I still love the computer science field though, so data science just felt like the right pick for me, at least for now.”
