The art club was founded in 2020 by two graduates who wanted a place for creativity to blossom. The club features different types of previous activities from drawing contests to clay sculpting, so there is something for everyone whether they’re just starting or experienced.
“It is a student-led club so the students would create all different types of art-themed games or just work on class art projects,” art teacher Natalie Jones said.
The art club is also a place to get one-on-one feedback. For students who want to grow as artists, the art club is a good place for peers to teach each other, fostering new friendships in the process.
“My favorite art piece that the students made were clay bells,” Jones said. “The students put them all together outside like wind chimes.”
Club members have a variety of backgrounds and goals, so people can find others that have the same interests and learn from their specialties.
“You are not graded on your art like in class,”senior Beckham Bracken said. “You’re just going out there and truly expressing yourself and anything you can do.”
The club has some new ideas they look forward to trying, making our school a more colorful and lively place. However, they would like more members to join so they can make those ideas possible.
“If we get more members, I would love to design some type of mural to beautify the school as a fun collaboration experience,” Jones said.
