Larissa Boring spent her high school years ready for college, and she is one of many seniors ready to say goodbye to high school because of it.
“I’m so ready for me,” Boring said. “I’m done with having a structured schedule.”
Outside of her school activities, she picked up some hobbies in fitness, namely pickleball and rock climbing.
“The extracurriculars I most enjoyed were outside of school,” she said. “It was kind of ‘me time.’”
After bidding farewell at graduation, Boring will spend the next few years “running around Austin” at UT, where she plans to balance those current hobbies with new experiences, all while working toward her degree in nursing.
“I’m probably going to make some dumb decisions, hopefully with some good outcomes,” she said. “My motto is to ‘do it for the plot.’”
She is, however, sad about some of the characters who will be absent from the plot in question. Most of her closest friends are splitting up between different universities.
“My best friend is going to Chicago, and I’m staying in Texas,” Boring said.
Before they go their separate ways though, Boring and many of her friends are going on the school Japan trip.
“Travel is, like, the number one thing I want to do with my life,” she said.
Despite her scholastic experiences, she maintains that the most important things she learned had everything to do with personal growth or relationships.
“People change,” she said. “If you change it’s not a bad thing, you can outgrow people. And quality over quantity with friends.”
