Doing Meet-The Teacher in a Denny’s set the tone for Evan Bower’s high school experience.
“Retelling my high school story, I would definitely include the part where me and my mom forgot about the ‘meet the teacher’ zoom call so I had to do it while I was in the middle of a Denny’s,”Bower said.
Bower is planning on going to college and pursuing a degree in animal sciences and getting a job that works with animals. He would prefer to get into a profession that allows him to study animal behaviors since that’s his specific interest.
“Even if it’s something more like animal care, working at a zoo or even a vet clinic, I’d be okay with that,” Bower said. “I know those jobs don’t make crazy money, especially on an entry level, so I am definitely going to be doing Graphic Design on the side.”
Project based learning has helped him become more proficient in graphic design and in many other aspects of school. A big takeaway from the last four years would be that he found the learning style that fits him most.
“I love the project based learning style instead of assignment based learning,” Bower said. I feel so much more invested in focusing on a large product instead of a lot of small tedious papers.”
Bower wants to leave something behind, even if it is just a reputation amongst his peers.
“For my legacy I want to be able to leave this place knowing I was able to fulfill my role as the designer well,” Bower said. “Throughout all my projects, that’s always been something I could reliably take care of to contribute to the groups.”
