With graduation just around the corner, Brady Bueker has his eyes firmly set on the future.
“I want to be an engineer or a businessman,” he said. “I’m just going to work, invest my money, and make more money.”
But even the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry, so Bueker plans to achieve these lofty goals by starting his own business
“I want to start an engineering firm that builds solar-powered water filters and gives them to children in Africa,” Bueker said.
Brady is committed to attending Angelo State University to study engineering. He’s also received $2,000 in scholarships which is great because he’ll need all the help he can get paying for college.
“I’ll have to pay $25,000 out of pocket because I picked the most expensive dorm,” he said.
Outside of his post-school pursuits, Brady largely remains an enigma. When asked about what he’d change about his high school experience he said, “the people.” But when later asked about what he’d miss about high school, his response was the same: “the people.” There is much more to Bueker than what meets the eye, he has a secret talent that most of “the people” don’t know about.
“I know how to ballroom dance,” Bueker said. “I spent the good part of eight months learning how to dance like they do on Broadway.”
The legacy Bueker would like to leave behind is physical, in the form of a giant moving falcon he’s been building with Steven Brown.
“I want to be known for something that represents the school,” he said.
